Chris & Becca’s Fun-Filled Wedding at Quantock Lakes in Somerset

Chris & Becca’s Wedding at Quantock Lakes, Somerset

Quantock Lakes wedding

Planning a wedding at Quantock Lakes? Well, we have some wedding Inso for you! This day had everything, big feelings, big energy, and Becca absolutely beaming as she walked down the aisle while everyone stayed seated (which, lowkey, made it feel even more personal and calm — loved that).

From the emotional gifts they gave their people in the morning to the absolute carnage that unfolded when the Bravo Singing Waiters crashed the room, this was one of those weddings that had range. Real, emotional, hilarious, and totally them.

Dan Costin’s sax brought the good vibes during drinks, the speeches were full of belly laughs and tears, and the fireworks at the end? The cherry on top of a proper magic day at one of our fave Somerset venues, Quantock Lakes.

Chris & Becca - Quantock Lakes

Briefly, how did you guys meet?

We met during the summer after leaving school. Our friends were dating and meeting up and we were the tag alongs! They didn’t last but here we are 15 years later still going strong. We met outside Tesco express which we find funny thinking back! So romantic 🤣

When did you guys start planning your wedding?

We started planning immediately after Chris proposed back in 2023

How long did it take you to find your perfect wedding venue?

Surprisingly not long at all! We thought we would view at-least 5 different venues before choosing the “one”, however after viewing Quantock lakes first and then another country house style venue, we just knew what we wanted. It was one of the easiest parts of the wedding planning process…

How would you describe your wedding theme? What was the inspiration?

Our wedding theme was elegant and classy. We went for black tuxedos for the guys and black dresses for the bridesmaids. We wanted white florals and minimal details to really give a punch. The black and white contrast was what we really wanted and felt like it helped create a powerful statement with romantic candles throughout. The photos are amazing! We were heavily inspired by our home details too so it was lovely to enjoy our wedding day surrounded by familiar design and style. It represented us 🤍

Tell us about your ceremony & your wedding reception

Our ceremony will never leave us. It was so so special.  I pre recorded a message which was played to Chris while he waited at the top of the aisle to start the ceremony off. He had no idea I had done this which was a special moment. Chris was really emotional anyway after an emotional morning so this really hit home. He has described it since as a moment he realised that we were just about to get married and it finally hit! An acoustic version of the classic truly madly deeply played the bridal party down the aisle shortly after and I entered with my dad just after Bella walked up towards Chris sobbing her heart out. When Chris turned to see me, his reaction was everything. I knew in that moment he will look after me for the rest of my life. The ceremony was full of happy tears, surrounded by emotional guests. Woody our Labrador entered just before the exit too which was a wonderful touch, he is the heart of the family after all! There was a whole lot of love in that room and everyone would agree you could really feel it. Surprisingly I held myself together really well throughout the ceremony, which surprised everyone as I am usually a big cryer and mega sensitive! I realise this was due to pure adrenaline taking over. I am so proud to say I got to walk towards my forever person.

What was your favourite part of planning your wedding?

I’m not gunna lie, it was obviously insane meeting Simon & Kiana, and all of the wonderful suppliers but the wedding cake tasting session was most definitely up there! Sorry guys ;)

Do you have any regrets or things you wish you knew before planning a wedding?

I’ll be honest, we are open to say the cost of the whole day. We had no idea how much it would all add up to. However when we look back, we have both unanimously agreed that it was worth every single penny. Every single extra we paid will live in our hearts regret free for the rest of our lives. We had the best of the best photography duo, fireworks, singing waiter and saxophone player. We just smile when we think back at the difference these extras made. We had a vision….and the vision came to life. So no regrets here. The only regrets we have are worrying about everything beforehand! It all went beautifully!

Looking back on your wedding now, what was the most memorable moments?

The ceremony was definitely so special to us, but we also loved entering our wedding breakfast to freed from desire hands in the air. Our guests were up for it too and had our backs, and it was a pure vibe. So lush to look back on all the content too!!
Our children being a massive part of the day was so special to us and they were so well behaved and full of all the love and happiness watching their mum and dad get married! We are so pleased we gave them this memory too.

What were some of the best decisions you made when planning your wedding day?

We are so glad that we chose to go against the traditional way of getting married. We wanted to just be ourselves on our wedding day and have everything we visioned come to life! The venue was perfect, the team, the theme just everything. We are so pleased that we both agreed to extras and just went for it. I am so pleased we decided to go for every supplier we went for there was not one bad booking - genuinely! We nearly didn’t book the fireworks but we are so glad we did!

If you had any advice for future bride & grooms, what would that be?

This is easy! Enjoy every single part of the build up,  take it all in and make sure you create the day that you want. Say yes to everything, and don’t worry about minor things that can go wrong. Nothing will go wrong because you are there to marry the love of your life surrounded by every person you care about. It’s the most incredible day, and you will want to relive every minute of it after so ensure you make the most of this period of your life <3.
