Jack & Atena’s Black Tie Wedding at Pennard House Somerset
Jack & Atena’s Wedding at Pennard House, Somerset
If you’re planning a wedding at Pennard House and want the day to feel like you, this one’s for you.
Jack & Atena kept it sharp but relaxed: tuxes, sunshine, drinks flowing, and a dance floor that kicked off early and never let up. It was all the things we love in a wedding, laid-back energy, great people, and a couple who just wanted to have a good time.
Pennard House delivered as always. A stunning Somerset wedding venue, it’s got that perfect mix of the countryside, elegant spaces, and party-ready vibes. You can dress it up, keep it chill, or do both, exactly like Jack & Atena did.
Jack & Atena
How did you guys meet?
(Sept 17) Local Pub / Jack in a band (Base Player) = Rest is history
(I was out with her friends celebrating new beginnings, without realising the local pub had a band on). Jack happened to be the base player who defiantly caught my eye. (GUILTY). Once the set finished we got talking (friend of mine was dating the singer). Jack told a white porky pie and claimed he had no way of getting back home so joined the afterparty at my house. We spent the whole night (Just talking PROMISE ) and I knew he was the one.
(Fun fact- the first time I met Jacks mum I told her I was going to marry her son, She must of thought I was a right freak! )
When did you guys start planning your wedding?
Shortly after our engagement, we couldn't wait to get stuck in and start planning our big day!
How long did it take you to find your perfect wedding venue?
Within 1.5 months post our engagement we found Pennard House (2nd venue we visited) we knew it was the one. We knew we wanted to get married in Sept (close to our anniversary) So when Sat 21st 2024 was available we booked there and then! (22nd Sept 2024 we celebrated our 7th Anniversary)
How would you describe your wedding theme? What was the inspiration?
Our wedding theme was elegant and fun! We love the idea behind a black tie as it was trending but also loved the slick, smart and sharp look. Specially for Jack and the ushers. Having a colour palate of two colours enabled us to add small, touches throughout our day to make the wedding feel personal and fun our guests.
Tell us about your ceremony & your wedding reception
Our ceremony was at All Saints Church, a small church located at the bottom of Pennard House. This helped us have our dream church wedding mixed with the Georgian manor house reception. The toast drinks are still one of my favourite moments walking back from the church, looking at each other and realising we "living the moment" we have been wanting for soo long.
The food at Pennard was delicious! Biased maybe but the food was PERFECT! The venue enabled us to provide drinks right up to the evening which meant Beers, Proseccos, our signature cocktail "Cozmopolitan", Aperols and Tequila Rose were flowing. Watching our guests enjoy our day with us and seeing all the planning come to life was just an incredible feeling.
The dance floor was packed as soon as the DJ started to play which was just wonderful (Not sure why we stress that no one will dance). The pizza van, Sweet treats and delicious wedding cake cupcakes helped us ensure that our guests were fed and were able to enjoy their day.
We loved how lucky we got with the weather, initially we woke up grey clods which meant umbrellas were on standby, as the ceremony time approached the skies cleared and we got the "WE ARE GOING OUTSIDE FOR THE TOAST DRINKS" which was the best feeling. The day meant we celebrated inside/outside throughout the whole day giving our guests and us a chance to enjoy everything Pennard House had to offer. Big shout out to Lucy our wedding coordinator who made our dream wedding come true.
What was your favourite part of planning your wedding?
I know at times planning wedding can get stressful (regardless of how organised you are), but we loved how planning our wedding together has brought us closer together. Coffee planning dates, food tasting, days out choosing suits, flowers, cocktail making. We really made sure to have fun and listen to what each other wanted.
Do you have any regrets or things you wish you knew before planning a wedding?
I really wish I didn't put soo much pressure of trying to plan the "perfect day". Guests at your day are there because they love you and want to be part of your special day. And regardless what you plan they will have the best time.
We honestly are looking back with no regrets and still now our guests tell us how much fun they had and how it was a wedding they wont forget!
Looking back on your wedding now, what was the most memorable moments?
"Cliche - we know" but there were soo many moments that we just loved about our wedding. ( Simon + Kiana you made this possible for us! We love all the photos) but one key moment for us is our first dance. The dance floor was popping, props in full swing, surrounded by all the people we love!
Also...bury the god damn sausage! We are not usually a superstitious couple but we didn't want to take the risk, Considering the weather forecast was nothing but rain we were desperate! The sausage worked...... and we ended up with beautiful sunshine on our day. Not worth taking the risk....ADVICE....bury the sausage!

What were some of the best decisions you made when planning your wedding day?
Having Kyle join us on our day was a decision that took a lot of persuasion for my darling husband. The standard commentary of its too much money, what's the point, why do you need a videographer if you have a photographer. PLEASE if you can book them! It can be seen as a luxury and not a necessity but hopefully you only do this once! We absolutely love our wedding video and have those special moments to look back on for the rest of our lived.
We also recognise that we made the best decision really thinking about our guests and who attended our wedding. Inviting friends, family that we know will be a part of our forever after. (If you are uncertain or you keep thinking whether you should invite the aunties cousin - DONT! Don't give in to the peer pressure, its your wedding. Do what is right for the both of you.
If you had any advice for future bride & grooms, what would that be?
I know everyone says it, but take moments to take it in all in! Stand together, hold hands and look around at all those around you! Being surrounded by friends, family and loved ones is the most beautiful feeling. Then take a moment to look at each other , have a kiss and appreciate the "moment". Everything you have worked so hard for is happening right now.
Also advice for the day- try not to stress , go with the flow and enjoy every single minute. Put your bridal and groom party in use and delegate prior to the day to ensure you can relax and let others deal with any unpresented moments.
